Golf is becoming a popular sport amongst the younger generations. You should give your children the opportunity to participate in their passion. When entering them into a competition, you want to look for age and skill groups that are appropriate for your child. There are many levels that young golfers can compete in. Whether it is local or state levels, young golfers can have the opportunity to win scholarships and become nationally ranked. The Junior Golf Tournaments provide young golfers with the ability to perform even if their school doesn’t have a team or club. Some of the top tournaments are included below!

U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

This championship was created for male amateur golfers under the age of 18 in 1948. Rules have changed now and implemented that if a young golfer has not reached their 19th birthday by the day of the tournament, they would be eligible to play. It is a competition to determine the best junior golfer in the United States. This year, the championship will be held in Toledo, Ohio. For five days in July, young male golfers will be tested and their talents will prosper.

U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship

Young male golfers aren’t the only ones that get the opportunity to compete in an amateur championship. The U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship gives young girls the ability to compete in their own tournament. This tournament got its start in 1949, a year after the Junior Amateur Championship, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The first tournament had 28 competitors sign up. The upcoming tournament is located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, young girls will test their abilities for five days on the course. Both tournaments will end with a junior champion.

With over 150 female competitors and close to 500 male competitors, these Championships are two of the most popular in the United States. Giving young females and males the chance to prove their abilities, entering your children could give them the chance to hone their skills and learn from their peers. Notable players such as Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, David Duval, Gary Koch, Marlene Bauer, Mickey Wright and many more have competed in these championships.
